Safety Session #5 Flight Technlogy #5: Flight Path Management Situational Awareness: Context-Based, Dual-Cue Flight Mode Annunciator Alerting
Speaker: Captain Mitchell L. Serber, Human Centered Engineer Project Lead -- The MITRE Corporation This presenter proposes new Flight Mode Annunciator (FMA) enhancements intended to provide context-based, dual-cue mode alerting that may enhance situational awareness, especially of automation mode changes that are not directly commanded. Join Mr. Serber for a discussion on the proposed FMA enhancements that may provide critical information to flight crews, promote situational awareness, and prevent aircraft state awareness occurrences from becoming accidents.
