RAA Support for Legislation Addressing Technician Shortage

Wednesday, March 7, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, March 7, 2018

WASHINGTON - The Regional Airline Association (RAA) has joined 16 other stakeholders to support legislation that would help members in the aviation and aerospace sector ensure they have the technical professionals needed to grow, compete globally and continue to ensure the safety of civil aviation aircraft.

The group of stakeholders signed a joint letter to Sens. Richard Blumenthal, Maria Cantwell, James Inhofe and Jerry Moran, whose legislation would incentivize businesses, labor organizations, schools and governmental entities to work together to pursue innovative strategies to develop technical talent and encourage workers to pursue aviation careers.

Not only is the aviation industry experiencing a shortage of technical professionals, it is also facing a shortage of commercial airline pilots. RAA is also working with government leaders and stakeholders to improve pilot training through the creation of additional, safety-enhancing structured training pathways.
